INSTEAD OF WINSCP

A WinSCP alternative for editing configs over SFTP

For when the job is: Get at a file on a device, and usually change it.

Most of the time you are not moving files around for the sake of it — you want to read a config, change two lines and put it back. WinSCP does that well and has done for years, including protocols this does not support.

CySecTek's file transfer is SFTP only, with a text editor built in so a config can be opened, edited and saved without a round trip through your Downloads folder and a local editor. It shares saved connections with the SSH side, so a device you already have credentials for is one click away.

What CySecTek does here

  • A built-in text editor, so editing a config is open, change, save — not download, edit, upload, hope.
  • Saved connections shared with SSH, including a remote path to open on connect, so a device you use often lands in the right directory.
  • Multi-file upload and download with progress.
  • Symlinks resolved so a directory listing shows what a link points at rather than a dead entry.
  • The same app has the terminal, so looking at a file and running a command are not two programs.

When to keep using WinSCP

  • FTP, FTPS and SCP. CySecTek speaks SFTP only.
  • Synchronising directories, queued transfer sessions, or scripting transfers from the command line.
  • Public-key authentication — password only here.
  • Anything where you need a proper two-pane file manager; this is a browser for getting at a file, not a full commander.

Questions

Does it support FTP?
No — SFTP only, which is SSH file transfer. If a device only offers plain FTP, keep WinSCP or FileZilla.
Can I edit a config without downloading it?
Yes. That is the main reason the editor exists: open the file, change it, save it back.
Does it share credentials with the SSH terminal?
Yes, the saved connections are the same store, and they are encrypted under your app password.
